In my entire life, I've never felt as threatened for my every day safety as I do now. What is happening in this world of ours? The golden rule, the ten commandments, what happened to the basis of humanity? We are literally killing ourselves. As a human race, we are choosing extinction instead of choosing life. Gone are the days where you can walk shopping malls, attend concerts or even see a late night movie without searching for an exit plan in fear of the unimaginable happening. It has become the new world we live in, a sad, terrible new world.

As I prepare to bring my own child into this world, I can't help but fear for the day that I won't be able to protect her because of someone else's actions. I fear for the day that I have to explain to her why other people make the choice to hurt others physically and emotionally. I fear for the day that she realizes the world isn't the world she thought it was. I fear those days. And I have great reason to as this is no longer the world I thought was safe for people to live peacefully in.

Typically, I am not one to comment on the issues occurring. Unfortunately, there is heartache and disaster because of circumstances we can not control but what I refuse to tolerate are the circumstances we can control. I urge whoever reads this to just take a look around and be thankful for what you do have instead of what you don't. Hug your loved ones. Be kind to everyone no matter what your perception is of them or their situation. We are all human beings, we all feel. We are all living, breathing creatures who are capable of doing the most amazing things if we all worked together.

There are no words to describe the sorrow or shock relating to the events occurring these past few months, heck even years. Hurricanes, shootings, disrespectfulness, it just all needs to end. Imagine the good that could occur if we all just helped each other. I hope these words find a special place where they can grow into positivity for someone out there because I don't want to live in a sad world anymore.
